Study Abroad in U.K.

The Study abroad in UK campaign was a joint initiative by British Council, Department of Education and Science and Higher Education Funding Council for England. The aim of these three bodies was to urge potential overseas students to see what U.K has to offer when it comes to top class higher education. Britain offers world class universities that provide challenging courses and excellent learning environments. It is no wonder why so many people look at Britain as their first choice when it comes to study abroad destinations. Students who have studied in U.K have time and again praised its educational system; they have also had nothing but good things to say about campus life too! Studying in Britain is certainly one of those ‘must do’ kind of things if you’re looking to pursue an international degree program today!

Cost of Studying Abroad in UK

Cost is a major consideration when studying abroad. Expenses such as tuition fees, living costs, visa application fees and travel expenses must be planned and budgeted before you leave. The cost of studying varies according to where you want to study, so it’s essential to do your research first. Compare tuition fees at institutions of your choice and find out what kind of financial aid is available. The average annual fee at top universities is around £9000-£12000 (£2000-3000 per year). However, some may ask for higher tuition fees. Check whether they offer any scholarships that are open to international students or have an exchange program with any foreign institution. These programs can save up to 50% on your overall costs!

Living Expenses

Most of us don’t realize just how much a life overseas can cost. While tuition may be comparable, or even lower than studying at home, and overall quality may be better, there are many other costs you’ll want to plan for – especially if you want to stay living overseas after graduation. There will be extra costs added to your living expenses that come with studying abroad. Just because they weren’t included in your education doesn’t mean they won’t be part of it. Before you take any more loans out, sit down and crunch some numbers with One Window Study Abroad Expert—it could end up saving you serious cash down the road.

Full-time courses will require a Tier 4 (General) Student Visa while part-time courses may require an extended Tier 4 (Child) Student Visa. In order to apply for these visas, you must be enrolled at a university that has been authorized by Her Majesty’s Home Office. These schools are known as Designated Schools. Currently there are over 600 Designated Schools throughout England, Scotland and Wales. It’s important to note that when studying at a non-designated school, you might still qualify for a visa but it’s important to check with your school first before applying. This is because if they aren’t listed as Designated then they aren’t allowed to offer any type of degree/qualification that can be used towards immigration purposes.
