The International English Language Testing System, or IELTSÂ as it is more commonly known, is an English language competence exam that non-native students must complete in order to study in countries where English is the medium of instruction. Universities in Australia, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Canada, and the United States recognise IELTSTM. It is now a requirement for studying in Australia.
If you want to take the IELTS, you need know that there are two different types of IELTS exams: Academic and General. The Listening and Speaking parts are the same for all students. IELTS Academic and IELTS General, on the other hand, have different Reading and Writing components. Make sure you know which test type is best for you.

The IELTS test is divided into two categories: Academic and General Training. Both exams include the identical Listening and Speaking sections, however the Reading and Writing sections are different depending on the test you take.
All IELTS examinations are conducted on the same day, with no interruptions in between the Listening, Reading, and Writing sections.
However, the Speaking section can be done up to a week before or after the other examinations. Your exam centre will provide you with guidance.
The total test time is 2 hours and 45 minutes.
